Ever had a day where the kids are fed but you're not? Maybe they are protected from head to toe, but you forgot to grab your own umbrella or jacket? If you've travelled on an airplane, you've been reminded to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. The same is true for parenting - if we are depleted, it may not be possible to be the presence our children need, especially in those difficult moments. Intellectually this makes sense, yet somehow we struggle to prioritize our own self-care.
